Yeshurun has an exceptional range of facilities to cater for its members and the wider community (find more details by clicking on the links at the bottom)
Apart from the main synagogue, (entrance pictured right) there is a smaller Bet Hamidrash where weekday and youth services are held. The Bet Hamidrash is also used for meetings and Shiurim.
There are several library and learning facilities:
- The Rowland Benson Library is a large library containing both fiction and non-fiction works of general Jewish interest.
- The Jack Stonefield Children’s Library contains books on Jewish topics aimed at children of all ages and is particularly popular for providing interest to children during services.
- The Audio Library has a large store of recorded material from Shiurim and lectures.
- The Library in the Bet Hamidrash has available for reference many of the standard Rabbinic publications on Halachah.
The Synagogue has two halls which are available for general hire for Simchas, parties, public lectures and other events – the Main Social Hall which can cater for up to 200 people, and the smaller Shacter Hall which can cater for approaching 100 people. The Shacter Hall converts to the Synagogue’s Succah during Succot. The hire rates for both halls are very competitive – see here for further details.
The Synagogue has a number of classrooms, including a computer room, and these are available for hire for courses or as offices, for example for communal organisations. For details, please contact the Office.
Agreement has now been reached for the building of a modern Mikvah in the Synagogue grounds with its own private entrance. This is expected to be ready for use in late 2009/early 2010.
The synagogue’s Burial Society has its own cemetery (left) with modern Ohel building in nearby Brookfield Road, Cheadle. |
