New Curtains for the High Festivals PDF Print E-mail

Ark Yom Tov

Rosh Hashana 2009 has seen the introduction of beautiful new curtains for the Ark created by Yeshurun member Shosh Lewis, a talented and artistic designer.  These will be used during the High Holy Days in future years.

The curtains are headed by the phrase "Repentance, Prayer and Charity" in Hebrew and incorporate the seasonal symbols of the Shofar, Pomegranate, Scales of Justice, Book of Life, Apple and Honey, and the Lulav.  The curtains are complemented by matching new covers for the Bimah and Lectern.

Twenty Years of Women in Judaism PDF Print E-mail

Yeshurun's pioneering Women in Judaism group celebrated their achievements over 20 years during this year's High Festivals by mounting a Retrospective Exhibition in the library area of the synagogue.

This fascinating exhibition includes tributes to the work of the Group, memories of their past events (including high profile Guest Speakers), study days, and Simchat Torah Celebrations.

The Women’s Simchat Torah celebration this year will be on the theme of Chesed with speakers from the Women in Judaism group and a guest speaker, radio journalist Judy Merry, will talk on her research into “Manchester’s Jewish Women Philanthropists of the Last Century”.
