Boltonians Remembered

The north/south divide of Manchester’s Jewish community grew a little smaller last week when members of the Yeshurun Synagogue in Gatley learnt about the lives and history of Jewish Bolton.

Hilary Thomas spoke to over 60 people about her new book, which traces the history of Bolton’s Jewish community and her writing was brought to life by Yeshurun member Stella Barsh who told the audience about her grandparents, Jacob and Fanny Lanzetter, who came to live in Bolton in the early 1900’s. Her grandfather was a jeweller and made silverware for the town’s shul.
