On 21 February Yeshurun Synagogue in Gatley held a hugely successful evening with special guest Martin Lewis, aka Money Saving Expert.
He entertained a very large audience with his charismatic personality. He started as a financial journalist, at a time when this information from the media was limited to discussion of stocks and shares, and felt most strongly that this was not the advice needed by the majority of the populace. He felt very lucky that he had been able to use his two favorite pastimes, chatting and challenging unfair financial practices, to forge a hugely successful career. He is arguably now described as the most influential man in Britain, using his position to influence many government policies, such as the inclusion of financial education in the national curriculum.
