Like many synagogues, Yeshurun has an active Ladies Guild (TheGuild@Yeshurun) who work tirelessly for the Synagogue and raise funds for specific projects; a Security Team, (trained by the Community Service Trust), and a dedicated Chevra Kadisha and Burial Society.
In addition Yeshurun also has a longstanding Liaison Committee with a wide range of support activities including Visiting the Sick; arranging transport for those with mobility issues; welcoming visitors to the synagogue services; organising Shabbat and Festival hospitality; holding lunches and dinners for the unattached; and periodic New Members’ evenings. A key role is providing care and support, both physical and moral, to those in need in the Community. Training evenings are held periodically for helpers and external experts are invited to give talks; the last talk being, for example, on care for dementia sufferers.
During the covid pandemic, the Community established The Yeshurun Task Force, to assist members self isolating or otherwise in need of specific help for example, food collection, prescriptions and post. Today, the Group continues to important work.
A defibrillator and first aid kits are available in the Synagogue, located in the public areas, office and kitchen.
